The short version: your writing belongs to you, use Skein fairly, and keep your own backups.

Who these terms are with

These terms are between you and Fallinghippo Limited, the maker of Skein, a company registered in England and Wales. By using Skein you agree to them. Contact: skeinwriting@gmail.com.

Your writing is yours

You keep all rights to everything you write and upload. If you sign in, you give us permission only to store, copy and transmit your content as needed to run Skein for you — for example, to sync it between your devices. We claim no other rights over it, and we never use it to train AI.

Your account

• Keep your sign-in details safe; you're responsible for what happens in your account.
• You must be at least 13 to create an account.
• You can stop using Skein at any time, and ask us to delete your account by emailing us.

Fair use

Don't use Skein to break the law, to store content you have no right to, to attack or overload the service, or to try to access other people's accounts. We may suspend accounts that do.

Keep backups

We work hard to keep your work safe, but no service is perfect. Skein saves on your device and, if you sign in, in your account. Please export a backup regularly (Backup in the app), especially before big changes.

The service

Skein is provided "as is". We may change, add or remove features, and we'll give reasonable notice before we stop offering anything you rely on or start charging for something that is currently free. Any paid plans will have their own clear terms and pricing before you subscribe.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, we aren't liable for loss of data, profits or business, or for indirect losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the twelve months before the claim (or £50 if you use Skein for free). If you use Skein as a consumer, you also have legal rights that these terms don't affect.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and tell you in the app about significant changes; continuing to use Skein means you accept them.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
